Pastor Witherspoon, First Lady Laura Witherspoon and the ministry are committed to the success of the family and young people. Following an initial interview, with his eldest son, Reggie, Jr., who declared his dad as his role model, the Seattle Times interviewed Pastor Witherspoon for a feature article regarding their relationship and wanted to learn more about how he has influenced the lives of his children. In addition, his youngest son and he were featured in a local commercial about the importance of fathers in the lives of their children. Pastor Witherspoon has served as a chaplain and facilitator of group sessions with the detained youth. Many youth have come to the saving knowledge of the Lord Jesus Christ and God has used him within this system. This aspect of ministry calling is experiencing tremendous results and many of these conversions have led to the supernatural growth of Mt. Calvary’s youth ministry. God has placed a Kingdom anointing upon Pastor Witherspoon for men, for the family and the youth. Due to this unique anointing to impact youth for the Kingdom of God, in a recent first for the city of Seattle, God birthed an outreach into the heart of Pastor Witherspoon after presiding over the funeral of two young men in one week. Pastor Witherspoon held the “Gathering the Sons” dinner that ministered to young men from various opposing gangs to provide a place for dialogue, healing, hope and love. Pastor Witherspoon was featured in the January 1999 issue of the Seattle Times, Pacific Northwest Magazine, titled “Preaching Power – The Rev. Reggie Witherspoon wages ‘spiritual warfare’in Seattle’s Inner City”. This article focused on the tremendous move of God in the youth of the community and at Mt. Calvary. Pastor Reggie Witherspoon stands out in the community as a father with a heart not only for his children but for all.

There is an unmistakable fragrance of love from this vessel of honor “for such a time as this.” This gift to the Body of Christ functions with an anointing of God that teaches, corrects, affirms, activates, launches, stretches and moves us into the purposes of God. This gift is our First Lady, Laura N. Witherspoon!
First Lady Laura N. Witherspoon was born September 12, 1954 in the city of Los Angeles, California to the union of Robert & Mattie Delgardo. Mrs. Witherspoon was taught at an early age, the standards of being a Christian woman and as promised in scripture “she did not “depart from them”. Mrs. Laura Witherspoon accepted the Lord Jesus Christ as her personal Savior at the young age of 12. Among her peers, her faith in God was an example to all who knew her and she was greatly respected.
On September 26, 1981 First Lady Laura Witherspoon was united in holy matrimony to (Pastor) Reggie C. Witherspoon, Sr. To this union, four beautiful children were born. Her dedication as a wife and mother of four beautiful children (Reggie Jr., LaTaunya, Romell & LaKayla) is inspiring. Anyone who graces her presence for any length of time will have no doubt that she enjoys and loves her family with all her heart. Mrs. Witherspoon understands that family is indeed a “precious gift from God.”
First Lady Laura Witherspoon’s passion for marriage and the family was the driving force behind her decision to further her college education. In 2005, she received her Associated Arts Degree at Highline Community College. She is currently in pursuit of her passion which is Marriage and Family Therapy with a major in Psychology at the Seattle Pacific University.
On August 21, 1987, God called her husband to the pastorate. Because of her genuine concern for the spiritual development of women of all ages, she implemented an innovative and thriving Women’s Ministry. Despite her busy schedule and multiple commitments, she devoted a portion of her time to serve as a Small Group Mentor in one of Seattle’s most prominent inner-city high schools. As a result, the lives of several young ladies have been changed dramatically and a few of them are currently members of Mt. Calvary Christian Center. Her love and genuine concern for others is most certainly exemplified in her service. She exhibits loyalty, servanthood, diligence and moral righteousness. Her humble, sweet spirit as well as her fair and no-nonsense approach to leadership makes her loved and respected by all. As Executive Director of the Women’s Ministry she is a constant source of wisdom. Mrs. Witherspoon has a strong determination to destroy the concept that women of God in the same church cannot work together in the “spirit of love”, especially among a rapidly growing ministry. She has designed or been an instrumental part of several ministries that foster healthy fellowship and unity within the Body of Christ.
Her wisdom in handling the word of God, coupled with her straight-forwardness and unique sense of humor makes her an extraordinary speaker. Mrs. Witherspoon is invited often to teach in ministry conferences, workshops and various other programs and classes. She shares and serves faithfully along side her husband in all phases of ministry.
Mrs. Laura N. Witherspoon is an elegant portrayal of a First Lady. As Mt. Calvary Christian Center family has grown, so has the honor and respect for First Lady Witherspoon. Mt. Calvary Christian Center, COGIC is honored and privileged to claim her as our “Woman of Excellence.”"
